Cadmus Display
Cadmus Display is a digital revival of the 1887 typeface by the MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan type foundry. Using scans of type specimens from the TJ Lyons Collection at MassArt, I digitally recreated the glyphs in the typeface. While staying true to the original design of Cadmus, I made small modifications to make the typeface work well as a digital, modern font. I also added ligatures and alternates in order to make the font more versatile. 2022

Type Specimens from the T.J. Lyons Collection
The T.J Lyons Collection is one of the largest collections of 19th century metal and wood type gathered by TJ Lyons, a Boston designer and printer. The collection was donated to MassArt by David Greer in 2015 so that it could be preserved and used as a resource for the entire college. MassArt has shared scans of type specimens from the collection, and they can be viewed here.
